YOUTH MINISTRY

Youth ministry at Friendswood Friends includes Jr. High and High School students, grades 7-12. Our youth program includes weekly meetings for Sunday School, worship, and bible study. We also participate in retreats, camps, and mission trips at various times. Each year we are involved in a denominational mission trip to a set of Friends churches centered around Nueva Rosita, Mexico, where we help to build buildings, meet various needs for the churches, and put on vacation bible school programs for the children in the area.

We also have summer camps that we attend for Jr. High and High school, weekly summer activities, occasional retreats, concerts, and other mission opportunities, especially in the summer, which are open for anyone who is interested.

HIGH SCHOOL

The High School weekly schedule includes activities such as Sunday Night CORE worship and games, a time where student leaders lead worship with a live band and student speakers, and have skits or videos that help to incorporate the theme of the speaker. Worship is usually followed by games down in the gym that incorporate the theme for the night. CORE is every Sunday night in the Friends Center from 7:30 to 9pm.

High School students also meet for Wednesday Night bible study at the parsonage across the street from the church from 8-9:30pm. No material or prior attendance is needed to jump right in, so come check it out! We also meet for Sunday School at the church at 9:30am.

JUNIOR HIGH

For the Junior High, we offer several different weekly activities in addition to Sunday School Sunday morning. We have a Bible Quiz competition program, which uses a competitive system of “Quiz Bowl”-like buzzers and questions to help students to memorize scripture.  Our team is open to new members at any time!

In addition, on Sunday nights at 6pm we have Jr. High Youth Group, a time of games, snacks, and fellowship together, with lessons or initiative games tossed in! Our youth group time together largely consists of playing together and building relationships that help our students to support one another and trust one another as members of the Body of Christ.

Jr. High Students "Donuts and Devos" is every Thursday Morning before school at 7:30am. We eat donuts together, play a few games and have a devotional lesson before school starts. It’s a great way to start the day off right, meet new friends, and then walk right across the street to the Jr. High with everyone in time for school.

Our youth program at Friendswood Friends offers retreats, camps, and mission trips as a part of our ministry. Every year we are involved in a denominational mission trip to a set of Friends churches centered around Nueva Rosita, Mexico, where we help to build buildings, meet needs, and put on vacation bible school programs for the children in the area. We have a great relationship with the churches down there, and they are always very welcoming and excited to have us! Our annual Spring Invasion trip is during Friendswood High School’s spring break, and is for any high school student that would like to attend and has been involved in our youth group.

We also have summer camps that we attend for Jr. High and High school, weekly summer activities, occasional retreats, concerts, and other mission opportunities, especially in the summer, which are open for anyone who is interested.
