Hello! This past Christmas break I went on our yearly youth function FSC (Friends Student Conference) in Wichita, Kansas. One of the lessons there that they really emphasized was to pray about “sending workers into the harvest”. Once I fully understood that, I realized that’s me. On this mission trip going to Rwanda I will be serving the Lord and I will be a worker in the harvest.
A few years back when my mother went to Rwanda, Africa, she came back with a ton of inspiring stories to share with us. Listening to those stories I always imagined what it would be like to go to such a poverished and needy place and teaching what you know about the bible to people who need to hear it. I never really thought I would get such a great opportunity to actually go there. I am so excited to go and see their culture and the people and just to see how they live. I’ve wanted to go to Africa ever since my mom came back and I’m so happy this was available for High School students. I do, in the summers, teach Vacation Bible School here at our Friends Church, so this is a great chance to do it elsewhere.
I do feel that God has called me to go this summer and I couldn’t be happier. I cant wait to go to Rwanda and share my story with other people and I’m praying I will be a good worker in the harvest.
